Key takeaways

  • The ACB announced the grand launch for 20 December 2025 in the UAE.
  • The launch would unveil five things the league had not yet shown.
  • The announcement was made in Kabul on 9 December 2025, with the ACB chairman and chief executive named.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the date in Kabul on 9 December 2025. The official grand launch of the Afghanistan Premier League would be held on 20 December 2025 in the UAE. The announcement gave the league a fixed day to work toward, and a list of things the launch itself had to show.

The launch had five things to show:

  • the tournament window
  • the venue
  • the structure
  • the brand
  • the commercial roadmap

The window sets when the tournament is played, and the venue sets where. The structure is how the league is organised. The brand is the face it shows. The roadmap is the commercial plan behind it.

Two names were on the announcement. Mirwais Ashraf, the chairman of the ACB, and Naseeb Khan, the chief executive, were named in Kabul. Four partners were named alongside them: ITW MEA, TransGroup, Skywalkers, and the ITW–TG consortium.

The partnership agreement was signed on 1 July 2025. An announcement had been planned for the end of August. It was rescheduled, and the announcement that followed came on 9 December.

What the announcement did was narrow the wait. The league then had a date, a place and a list of five things to show on it. The launch itself was where those five were shown.
