2018 stats
APL most runs
One season, five names, and a reminder that the leading scorer’s team did not reach the final.
| Rank | Player | Team | Runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mohammad Shahzad | Paktia Panthers | 344 |
| 2 | Hazratullah Zazai | Kabul Zwanan | 322 |
| 3 | Chris Gayle | Balkh Legends | 315 |
| 4 | Laurie Evans | Kabul Zwanan | 305 |
| 5 | Ryan ten Doeschate | Balkh Legends | 274 |
Shahzad’s 344 for Paktia Panthers leads Zazai by 22 and Gayle by 29. That is a real gap and a small one. Two of the five were local batters, three were overseas. Panthers, who housed the leader, lost a semi-final. Zwanan, who housed two of the top four, lost the final. Runs travelled. The trophy stayed with Legends, whose Gayle and ten Doeschate still made the list.
